It is an ancient soft wheat with autumn sowing. It is a vigorous variety and, like most ancient wheats, very tall, even over one and a half metres: for this reason it has a certain tendency to lodge, that is, to lie down in case of strong thunderstorms that hit the field at the beginning of summer when the stem is already tall and the ear begins to weigh because the seeds are growing; also because of this “defect”, like the other traditional varieties it was replaced after the war by today’s hybrid varieties, more productive and at the same time shorter.
